Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be processed more easily into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken and turkey which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants from Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants and seaweeds, among others, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient that we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group, ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Slovakian Hound. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Slovakian Hound belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Slovakian Hound.

Chamomile

Chamomile is a genus of the daisy family. Chamomile is widely cultivated in Hungary and Eastern Europe. It also grows wild throughout Europe. The name Chamomile comes from a Greek word meaning 'ground apple' and refers to its apple scent. Chamomile has an excellent reputation in natural medicine.

Chamomile can be added to Yourdog dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the stomach, intestines, skin, rheumatism, nerves, inflammation and urinary tract.

Chamomile can have a mild calming effect on dogs and could therefore be used for dogs that often experience stress. In addition, it can have a positive effect on dogs with a 'nervous digestion'. It can have antispasmodic and antiseptic properties.

Fennel

Fennel is a plant from the carrot family and can be recognized by its anise flavor. The thread-like branches of the leaves are often used as a herb and the seeds as a spice. These seeds have been known for their medicinal properties for centuries.

Like many herbs and seeds, fennel is rich in various vitamins and minerals. For example, it contains a lot of vitamins A and C and the minerals iron and potassium.

Fennel can be added to our dog food because it can support digestion and counteract bloating in the stomach and intestines. It can contribute to a healthy cardiovascular system and can have a positive effect on joint problems. Fennel is also said to promote fresh breath.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant from the heather family. In the Netherlands, this plant is mainly found on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the Netherlands. Originally, the plant comes from North America and would have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique mix of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost for dogs. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures a healthy level of vital fluids in the body. These berries are also packed with vitamins A, B and C and antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes the urine more acidic, which makes the environment in the bladder less attractive for bacteria. Adding cranberry can also have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. The healthy fibers in cranberries have a healthy effect on digestion and ensure a longer feeling of fullness.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our varieties of Slovakian Hound dog food, you can use the following guidelines. If your Slovakian Hound is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Slovakian Hound older than 7 years, we recommend the Yourdog Slovakian Hound Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

If your Slovakian Hound does not seem to like his Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, you will receive your money back.

Feeding advice

Switching advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Slovakian Hound dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or container in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loose in the container, but to place it in the container with the entire bag, which you close as tightly as possible.
