Our ingredients

To produce our feed, for a 12 kg bag, 10.6 kg of meat is dried, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffaloes. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together create a delicious taste and aroma for the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry contribute to good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, specific ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific ailments can be alleviated by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Majorca Shepherd specific vegetables, herbs, and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Majorca Shepherd. We also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Majorca Shepherd belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Majorca Shepherd.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is an endogenous substance found in joints, cartilage, joint fluid, and tendons. Glucosamine stimulates cartilage production and helps keep joints flexible.

Glucosamine is one of the most commonly used supplements for dogs with osteoarthritis and/or joint problems. This is not only the case in older dogs or overweight dogs, but increasingly also in younger, very active dogs. For example, due to a hereditary predisposition to joint problems. For these and other reasons, glucosamine is added to our dog food.

Marigold

The marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the composite family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for its various medicinal properties for centuries. The original calendula species probably originated in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now rarely found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

There is a lot of information available about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific problems related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and feet. It is especially good for skin and mucous membrane regeneration, acts as an anti-inflammatory, and has a regenerating effect. It can also prevent cramps during the digestion process.

Calendula is primarily used as an external care product for scrapes or skin problems, among other things. But it can also be used internally because of its regenerating properties.

Thyme

Thyme is a genus from the mint family. It includes herbaceous or woody plants with a very aromatic scent. Thyme has been used by the Greeks and Romans as a medicinal herb against lung diseases, rheumatism, paralysis, stomach cramps, tumors, headaches, colic, and nervous weaknesses.

The medicinal properties of thyme are confirmed by the high values of vitamin K it contains. In addition, thyme also contains a lot of iron, as well as the minerals calcium and manganese. It also contains the amino acid tryptophan and a significant amount of fiber.

Thyme is anti-inflammatory and has potent antibacterial and antifungal properties. In addition, it stimulates the production of white blood cells and strengthens the immune system. Thyme is rich in antioxidants and effectively combats free radicals.

At Yourdog, we add thyme to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, paralysis, stomach, and nerves. Thyme is also a natural bacterial fighter.

Puppy, adult, or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Majorca Shepherd dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Majorca Shepherd is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Majorca Shepherd older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Majorca Shepherd senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

If your Majorca Shepherd does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, we will refund your purchase price.

Feeding advice

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely transitioned to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Majorca Shepherd dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or container in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the container, but to place it with the entire bag, which you seal as tightly as possible, into the container.
