Our ingredients

To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and it is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol, fat, and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super-healthy vegetables are added to our food. Not only are vegetables nutritious, but they also have other healthy properties. The crude fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Fruit

We add a unique combination of fruits to Yourdog, ensuring your dog gets all essential, natural antioxidants. Fruit can be good for a dog's immune system, but it can also contribute to fresh breath or maintaining healthy digestion. These natural ingredients promote the dog's health.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among others, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in a dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific issues can be alleviated by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Karstherder specific vegetables, herbs, and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Karstherder. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and FCI breed group to which the Karstherder belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Karstherder.

Peppermint

Peppermint is a plant from the mint family. It is the plant that led to the creation of peppermints. Peppermint originated from a cross between water mint and spearmint. The plant was found in England in a field of mint plants in the seventeenth century. The plant is cultivated in England, France, China, Japan, and in North and South America.

Peppermint can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific issues related to the intestines and gallbladder. Preventing itching is also among the properties of the peppermint plant.

Peppermint can promote fresh breath. The mint in peppermint can have an anti-spasmodic effect on the intestines and promotes the flow of bile in the intestines. In addition, it can have an antiseptic effect.

Peppermint is rich in vitamins A and C and minerals such as calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is an endogenous substance found in joints, cartilage, synovial fluid, and tendons. Glucosamine stimulates cartilage production and keeps joints supple.

Glucosamine is one of the most commonly used supplements for dogs with osteoarthritis and/or joint problems. This is not only the case for older dogs, or (overweight) heavy dogs, but also increasingly for younger, very active dogs. For example, due to a hereditary predisposition to joint problems. For these and other reasons, glucosamine is added to our dog food.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant from the heather family. This plant is mainly found in the Netherlands on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the Netherlands. Originally from North America, it is believed to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique mix of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost to dogs. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures healthy levels of vital fluids in the body. These berries are also packed with vitamins A, B, and C and antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes the urine more acidic, which makes the environment in the bladder less attractive for bacteria. Adding cranberry can also have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. The healthy fibers in cranberries have a healthy influence on digestion and provide a longer feeling of fullness.

Cranberry is added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific issues related to, among other things, digestion, skin, joints, bones, and nerve functions.

Puppy, adult, or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Karstherder dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Karstherder is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Karstherder older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Karstherder senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That is why we provide a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packaging. If your Karstherder does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, we will refund your purchase price.

Feeding advice

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important to let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can start feeding 100% Yourdog Karstherder dog food at your discretion.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the bin, but to place the entire bag, which you close as tightly as possible, into the bin.
