Our Ingredients

To produce our feed, for a 12 kg bag, 10.6 kg of meat is dried, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-roaming and grass-fed buffaloes. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With a lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide your dog with extra valuable nutrients, super healthy vegetables have been added to our feed. Vegetables are not only nutritious but also have other healthy properties. The crude fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Fruit

We add a unique combination of fruits to Yourdog, ensuring your dog gets all essential, natural antioxidants. Fruit can be good for your dog's immune system, and it can also contribute to fresh breath or maintaining healthy digestion. These natural ingredients promote your dog's health.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific ailments can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Dutch Shepherd Specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Dutch Shepherd. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Dutch Shepherd belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Dutch Shepherd.

Marigold

Marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for centuries for its various medicinal properties. The original calendula species probably grew in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now rarely found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

There is much information available about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to our dog food because it could contribute positively to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and feet. It is especially good for the recovery of skin and mucous membranes, it has anti-inflammatory properties, and a regenerating effect. It can also prevent cramps during the digestive process.

Calendula is primarily used as an external care product for scratches or skin problems, among other things. But it can also be used internally due to its regenerating properties.

Thyme

Thyme is a genus from the mint family. It includes herbaceous or woody plants with a very aromatic scent. Thyme was used by the Greeks and Romans as a medicinal herb against lung diseases, rheumatism, paralysis, stomach cramps, tumors, headaches, colic, and nervous weaknesses.

The medicinal properties of thyme are confirmed by the high values of vitamin K it contains. In addition, thyme also contains a lot of iron, as well as the minerals calcium and manganese. It also contains the amino acid tryptophan and a significant amount of fiber.

Thyme has anti-inflammatory properties and a powerful antibacterial and fungicidal effect. In addition, it stimulates the production of white blood cells and strengthens the immune system. Thyme is rich in antioxidants and effectively combats free radicals.

At Yourdog, we add thyme to our dog food because it could contribute positively to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, paralysis, stomach, and nerves. Thyme is also a natural bacteria fighter.

Banana

The banana plant grows in tropical areas where the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. There is even evidence that bananas may have been cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago. The name is derived from the word Œbanaana from the language of the Wolof people.

Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and B11 (folic acid), and the minerals potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. The natural antioxidant, vitamin C, can strengthen immunity. Vitamin B11, or folic acid, can support the immune system and contribute to a well-functioning nervous system. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Potassium can also help lower blood pressure in dogs with high blood pressure, and magnesium can contribute to muscle relaxation and promote bone growth. In addition, bananas contain a lot of good fiber and promote more good bacteria in the intestines.

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After your own discretion, you can then feed 100% Yourdog Dutch Shepherd dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place it in the bin with the entire bag, which you seal as well as possible.
