Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is bursting with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or breed group, certain ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Deerhound specific vegetables, herbs and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Deerhound. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and FCI breed group to which the Deerhound belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Deerhound.

Marigold

The marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for its various medicinal properties for centuries. The original calendula species probably grew in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is hardly found in the wild anymore. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

A lot of information can be found about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and feet. Especially good for skin and mucous membrane recovery, it has anti-inflammatory and regenerating properties. It can also prevent cramps during the digestion process.

Calendula is mainly used as an external care product for scratches or skin problems, among other things. But it can also be used internally due to its regenerating properties.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant from the heather family. This plant is mainly found on the Wadden Islands in the Netherlands and is very rare in the rest of the Netherlands. Originally from North America, it is believed to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique blend of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost to dogs. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures healthy levels of vital fluids in the body. These berries are also full of vitamins A, B, and C, and antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes the urine more acidic, which makes the bladder environment less attractive for bacteria. The addition of cranberry can also have pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. The healthy fibers in cranberries have a healthy influence on digestion and ensure a longer feeling of fullness.

Celery

Celery is a plant from the carrot family. The plant is often found along the coast on wet ground.

Celery is rich in vitamins A, C, and K, but also contains a lot of folic acid and potassium. In addition, celery is fat-free, rich in fiber, and very low in calories.

We add celery to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to supporting the immune system and digestion of the dog. It can also have a positive effect on skin and coat, muscle and nerve function due to vitamin A, and maintaining strong bones due to vitamin K.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Deerhound dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Deerhound is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Deerhound older than 7 years, we recommend the Yourdog Deerhound senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That's why we offer a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packaging. If your Deerhound doesn't seem to like their Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we can't resolve it together, we will refund your purchase amount.

Feeding advice

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we advise you to follow these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then feed 100% Yourdog Deerhound dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or container in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the container, but to place it with the entire bag, which you close as best as possible, in the container.
