Our Ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super healthy vegetables have been added to our food. Thus, vegetables are not only nutritious but also have other healthy properties. The crude fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Fruit

We add a unique combination of fruits to Yourdog, ensuring that the dog receives all essential, natural antioxidants. Fruit can be good for the dog's immune system, but it can also contribute to fresh breath or maintaining healthy digestion. These natural ingredients promote the dog's health.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed, or the breed group, ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Akita Specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Akita. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Akita belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Akita.

Chondroitin

Chondroitin occurs naturally in the dog's body and is one of the main components of cartilage tissue. In dogs, chondroitin is able to attract and retain moisture, which should provide a spongy cushioning in the cartilage.

Chondroitin improves the flexibility of cartilage and also has pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. In addition, it also stimulates the production of the building blocks that serve for healthy cartilage.

If chondroitin is given in combination with glucosamine, it supports and strengthens the action of glucosamine. It is therefore often given as a nutritional supplement for people and animals suffering from osteoarthritis.

Spirulina

Spirulina is a nutritional supplement with an exceptionally high nutritional value, made from blue-green algae found in tropical and subtropical regions. It belongs to the microalgae family. Did you know that spirulina can be grown in space and consists of 60 to 70% protein?

It is rich in vitamins, including B12, minerals such as calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, and potassium, and all essential amino acids. Spirulina can generally contribute to the dog's health and well-being. In addition, it can contribute to supporting the immune system and promoting healthy skin and a shiny coat. The algae also have a detoxifying effect and promote digestion.

Banana

The banana plant grows in tropical areas where the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. There is even evidence that bananas were cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago. The name is derived from the word Œbanaana' from the language of the Wolof people.

Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and B11 (folic acid) and the minerals potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. The natural antioxidant, vitamin C, can strengthen immunity. Vitamin B11, or folic acid, can support the immune system and contribute to a well-functioning nervous system. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Potassium can also help lower blood pressure in dogs with high blood pressure, magnesium can contribute to muscle relaxation and promote bone growth. In addition, bananas contain many good fibers and ensure more good bacteria in the intestines.

Puppy, Adult or Senior?

To help you make the right choice between our variants of Akita dog food, you can use the following guidelines. If your Akita is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For an Akita older than 7 years, we recommend the Yourdog Akita senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That is why we provide a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packaging. If your Akita does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, you will receive a refund of the purchase price from us.

Feeding Advice

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we advise you to follow these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can start feeding 100% Yourdog Akita dog food at your discretion.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the bin, but to place it in the bin with the entire bag, which you close as tightly as possible.
