Our ingredients

For the production of our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich colour, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content, and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super-healthy vegetables are added to our food. Vegetables are not only nutritious, but also have other healthy properties. The crude fibre in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group, ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.

South Russian Ovcharka-specific vegetables, herbs and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the South Russian Ovcharka. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the South Russian Ovcharka belongs. Based on these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the South Russian Ovcharka.

Marigold

Marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for centuries for its various medicinal properties. The original calendula species probably grew in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now rarely found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

There is much information available about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes and feet. It is especially good for the recovery of skin and mucous membranes, it has anti-inflammatory properties and a regenerating effect. It can also prevent cramps during digestion.

Calendula is mainly used as an external care product for scratches or skin problems, among other things. But it can also be used internally due to its regenerating properties.

Thyme

Thyme is a genus from the mint family. It includes herbaceous or woody plants with a very aromatic scent. Thyme has been used by the Greeks and Romans as a medicinal herb for lung diseases, rheumatism, paralysis, stomach cramps, tumours, headaches, colic and nervous weaknesses.

The medicinal properties of thyme are confirmed by the high levels of vitamin K it contains. In addition, thyme also contains a lot of iron, as well as the minerals calcium and manganese. It also contains the amino acid tryptophan and a significant amount of fibre.

Thyme has anti-inflammatory properties and a powerful antibacterial and antifungal effect. In addition, it stimulates the production of white blood cells and strengthens the immune system. Thyme is rich in antioxidants and effectively combats free radicals.

At Yourdog, we add thyme to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, paralysis, stomach and nerves. Thyme is also a natural bacteria fighter.

Banana

The banana plant grows in tropical areas where the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. There is even evidence that bananas may have been cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago. The name is derived from the word 'banaana' from the language of the Wolof people.

Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, C and B11 (folic acid) and the minerals potassium, magnesium, iron and zinc. The natural antioxidant, vitamin C, can strengthen immunity. Vitamin B11, or folic acid, can support the immune system and contribute to a well-functioning nervous system. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Potassium can also help lower blood pressure in dogs with high blood pressure, magnesium can help relax muscles and promote bone growth. In addition, bananas contain many good fibres and promote more beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you choose between our varieties of South Russian Ovcharka dog food, you can use the following guidelines. If your South Russian Ovcharka is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variety. For a South Russian Ovcharka older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog South Russian Ovcharka senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variety.

If your South Russian Ovcharka does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyse the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, you will receive a refund of the purchase price.

Feeding Advice

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we advise you to follow these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely transitioned to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog South Russian Ovcharka dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place the entire bag, which you should seal as tightly as possible, into the bin.
