Our Ingredients

To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content, and fewer calories, this tender meat is brimming with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

Västgötaspets-specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Västgötaspets. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Västgötaspets belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Västgötaspets.

Licorice Root

Licorice root is derived from the Greek glyks for 'sweet' and rhiza for 'root', and is also known as Glycyrrhiza glabra. The plant originated in Eurasia, North Africa, and West Asia. Medicinal properties have been attributed to licorice since ancient times, and the root is often used for making herbal tea.

Licorice root is believed to have a soothing effect on mucous membranes and is also said to have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. Additionally, it can contribute to the recovery of the gastric mucosa and is said to be good for a sensitive gastrointestinal system.

Marigold

The marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for its diverse medicinal properties for ages. The original calendula species likely grew in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now rarely found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

Calendula can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and paws. It is especially good for the recovery of skin and mucous membranes, it has anti-inflammatory properties, and a regenerative effect. It can also prevent cramps during the digestion process.

Calendula is primarily used as an external care product for scratches or skin problems, among other things. But it can also be used internally due to its regenerative properties.

Tomato

The tomato is part of the nightshade family and originates from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog, we use tomatoes at a culinary level, considering them as a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories, and have a high soluble fiber content, which contributes to digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives them their red color. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. Besides giving a tomato its red color, it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can, among other things, offer protection against cancer and can help with cardiovascular diseases. In addition, tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C and vitamin A and B complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.

Tomato is added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, vision, and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it can have a general purifying effect on the body.

Puppy, Adult, or Senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Västgötaspets dog food varieties, you can use the following guidelines. If your Västgötaspets is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variety. For a Västgötaspets older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Västgötaspets Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variety.

If your Västgötaspets does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, you will receive a refund of your purchase amount.

Feeding Advice

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important to let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can, at your discretion, start feeding 100% Yourdog Västgötaspets dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place the entire bag, which you seal as well as possible, into the bin.
