Our Ingredients

To produce our feed, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich colour, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content, and fewer calories, this tender meat is brimming with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together create a delicious taste and aroma for the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super healthy vegetables are added to our feed. Vegetables are not only nutritious but also have other healthy properties. The crude fibre in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Fruit

We add a unique combination of fruit to Yourdog, ensuring dogs receive all essential, natural antioxidants. Fruit can be good for a dog's immune system, and it can also contribute to fresh breath or maintaining healthy digestion. These natural ingredients promote the dog's health.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our feed come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among others, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in a dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific issues can be alleviated by the use of herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Jack Russell-specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruit

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Jack Russell. We also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and FCI breed group to which the Jack Russell belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients were selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Jack Russell.

Licorice Root

Licorice root is derived from the Greek glyks for 'sweet' and rhiza for 'root', also known as Glycyrrhiza glabra. The plant originated in Eurasia, North Africa, and West Asia. Medicinal properties have been attributed to licorice since ancient times, and the root is often used for preparing herbal tea.

Licorice root is said to have a soothing effect on mucous membranes and also to possess anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. Additionally, it can contribute to the recovery of the gastric mucosa and is considered beneficial for a sensitive gastrointestinal system.

Carrot

The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of crossbreeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the VOC in the 17th century.

Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fibre. For example, carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This is important for capillary formation and the health of all cells. The fibre in a carrot contributes to the dog's digestion. Additionally, carrots are low in calories and good for coat and skin.

At Yourdog, we add carrot to dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific issues related to the dog's coat and skin. It also promotes good eyesight and healthy digestion.

Raspberries

The raspberry is a plant from the rose family and belongs to the genus Rubus. Raspberry cultivation dates back to the Middle Ages and it occurs naturally throughout Europe.

Raspberries contain many substances that can support a dog's health, such as vitamins like vitamin C, minerals like manganese, and antioxidants. Furthermore, raspberries are low in sugar and calories and rich in good fibre.

Raspberry is added to our dog food due to its anti-inflammatory properties and it can make a positive contribution to the functioning of the immune system. Raspberries can also contribute to maintaining eyesight and a healthy cardiovascular system.

Feeding Advice

Body Weight (kg) Daily Amount (g)
10 - 20 190 - 315
20 - 40 315 - 525
40 - 60 525 - 750

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog will now be almost completely transitioned to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Jack Russell dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place it with the entire bag, which you should seal as tightly as possible, into the bin.
