Our Ingredients

To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and it is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

These ingredients support the natural processes in your dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed, or the breed group, ingredients are given special attention. Breed-specific ailments can be alleviated by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Maremma Sheepdog-specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Maremma Sheepdog. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Maremma Sheepdog belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Maremma Sheepdog.

Marigold

Marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for its diverse medicinal properties for ages. The original calendula species probably grew in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now hardly found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

Much information can be found about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific problems related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and paws. It is especially good for the recovery of skin and mucous membranes, it has anti-inflammatory properties, and a regenerating effect. It can also prevent cramps during the digestion process.

Calendula is primarily used as an external care product for scratches or skin problems, among other things. But it can also be used internally due to its regenerating properties.

Carrot

The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of cross-breeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the Dutch East India Company in the 17th century.

Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fiber. For example, carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This is important for the development of capillaries and the health of all cells. The fiber in a carrot contributes to the dog's digestion. Additionally, carrots are low in calories and good for coat and skin.

At Yourdog, we add carrot to dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific problems related to the dog's coat and skin, as well as promoting good vision and healthy digestion.

Banana

The banana plant grows in tropical areas where the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. There is even evidence that the banana may have been cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago. The name is derived from the word ‘banaana’ from the language of the Wolof people.

Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and B11 (folic acid) and the minerals potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. The natural antioxidant, vitamin C, can strengthen the immune system. Vitamin B11, or folic acid, can support the immune system and contribute to a well-functioning nervous system. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Potassium can also help lower blood pressure in dogs with high blood pressure, magnesium can help relax muscles and promote bone growth. In addition, bananas contain many good fibers and ensure more good bacteria in the intestines.

Puppy, Adult, or Senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Maremma Sheepdog dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Maremma Sheepdog is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Maremma Sheepdog older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Maremma Sheepdog Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Feeding Advice

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Maremma Sheepdog dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place the entire bag, which you seal as best as possible, into the bin.
