Our Ingredients

To produce our feed, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich colour, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol, fat content, and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super healthy vegetables have been added to our feed. Vegetables are not only nutritious but also have other healthy properties. The crude fibre in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Fruit

We add a unique combination of fruit to Yourdog, ensuring that the dog receives all essential, natural antioxidants. Fruit can be good for the dog's immune system, and it can also contribute to fresh breath or maintaining healthy digestion. These natural ingredients promote the dog's health.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our feed come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among others, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, specific ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced through the use of herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Australian Shepherd Specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Australian Shepherd. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Australian Shepherd belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Australian Shepherd.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is a substance naturally occurring in the body, found in joints, cartilage, synovial fluid, and tendons. Glucosamine stimulates cartilage production and helps keep joints supple.

Glucosamine is one of the most commonly used supplements for dogs with osteoarthritis and/or joint problems. This is not only the case for older dogs, or (overweight) heavy dogs, but increasingly also for younger, very active dogs, for example, due to a hereditary predisposition to joint problems. For these and other reasons, glucosamine is added to our dog food.

Thyme

Thyme is a genus from the mint family. It includes herbaceous or woody plants with a very aromatic scent. Thyme was used by the Greeks and Romans as a medicinal herb for lung diseases, rheumatism, paralysis, stomach cramps, tumours, headaches, colic, and nervous weakness.

The medicinal properties of thyme are confirmed by its high vitamin K values. Additionally, thyme also contains a lot of iron, as well as the minerals calcium and manganese. It also contains the amino acid tryptophan and a significant amount of fibre.

Thyme is anti-inflammatory and has powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties. In addition, it stimulates the production of white blood cells and strengthens the immune system. Thyme is rich in antioxidants and effectively fights free radicals.

At Yourdog, we add thyme to our dog food because it could positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, paralysis, stomach, and nerves. Thyme is also a natural bacteria fighter.

Carrot

The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of cross-breeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the VOC in the 17th century.

Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fibre. For example, carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This is important for the formation of capillaries and the health of all cells. The fibre in a carrot contributes to the dog's digestion. Additionally, carrots are low in calories and good for coat and skin.

At Yourdog, we add carrot to the dog food because it can positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the dog's coat and skin, as well as promoting good vision and healthy digestion.

Puppy, Adult, or Senior?

To help you choose the right variant of our Australian Shepherd dog food, you can use the following guidelines. If your Australian Shepherd is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For an Australian Shepherd older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Australian Shepherd Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Palatability Guarantee

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That's why we offer a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packages. If your Australian Shepherd doesn't seem to like their Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyse the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, we will refund your purchase amount.

Feeding Guide

Body weight (kg) Daily amount (g)

20 - 40 315 - 525
40 - 60 525 - 750

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we advise you to follow these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important to let the dog get used to this for two or three days as well. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost entirely transitioned to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can, at your discretion, start feeding 100% Yourdog Australian Shepherd dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the container, but to place the entire bag, which you have sealed as well as possible, into the container.
